OUR STORY

In Bengali, the term BANDHU (বন্ধু) means Friend. BANDHU NARRATIVE ALLIES comprises a group of friends in the mental health profession. We are extensively trained in Narrative Practices and intend to explore new possibilities with the philosophy of this practice. The absent but implicit meaning of BANDHU here is a BAlcony of Narratives with Diversity, Hope, & Unveiling. Our hope is to work in diverse contexts & situations through education and arrangement of Workshops.

OUR VISION

In the modern world, in a life with geographical, environmental, sociological, political, economic, and technological change, people have to routinely contend with increased uncertainty and confrontation, leading to more challenges. People, animals, and the entire planetary world is vulnerable. A culture of political fearmongering and ableist normativity makes things even worse. This is felt in abundance in Bengal, and the rest of India.

We, at BANDHU, have decades of experience in psychiatry and mental health. Through this initiative, we are looking to explore new possibilities in these intersectional domains. We strongly believe that the knowledge and training of Narrative Practices can help usher in a clarion call for better mental health, personal growth, and community development. This initiative will involve everyone including marginalized communities, and carry out important work related to human rights, sexuality, and feminist movements.
